When Amy contacted me and said she would love a photoshoot but lives in Goondiwindi, my jaw did drop just slightly. However, it just so happens that Amy’s family lives in Brisbane and every couple of months she visits over a long weekend with her beautiful boy Duke.

That meant that we planned her photos session with Duke several weeks in advance and just had to pray the weather was going to behave!

About Amy & Dukes Dog Portrait Session

I met Amy at the Bunyaville Conservation Park and Duke was definitely very excited to be there. So many amazing new smells!

Amy’s biggest concern was that he wouldn’t sit still! That was a warranted concern! Haha He is an incredibly active and inquisitive boy and if it wasn’t for my array of noises and fast shutter speed it would have most certainly have been a challenge BUT that’s why you hire a professional. wink wink

Initially Amy wasn’t going to be in any of the photos though fortunately I was able to encourage her to interact with Duke and captured some gorgeous photos of them together.

It's so important to tell your photographer...

Usually, I can’t help twirling fluffy ears around my fingers, but Amy did mention in our pre-session consultation and questionnaire that Duke can sometimes get irritated being petted by others. It’s really important to share information like this with me so that I can behave appropriately and not put your dog in an uncomfortable situation.

We had no problems with Duke! But I was definitely aware of not being overly cuddly and giving him the space he needed to feel comfortable and relaxed around me.

After the Session

Man, I struggled to cull this session! There were just so many gorgeous photos as we had moved to different locations throughout the park.

I did end up doing a lot of head swapping, limb removals (hahah sounds bad) and of course lead removal but it was worth it to get the best out of each shot. Take a look at the before after a magical edit! <3

The Reveal

I had such a lovely afternoon with Amy as she chose her most favourite photos. It turned out to be perfect timing as she had just spent the week here in Brisbane through exams and the reveal session helped to offer a break from the stress of exams. Wishing you all the best with your final exams Amy. xx

Again, Lexie managed to steal the show again and had somehow convinced Amy to throw her toy around the living area. Dog’s sure do have a way of helping us to relax and enjoy the simple things in life. <3

Amy reminded me how important it is to see the samples of products and artwork in person. Although I do send out a product guide of what I am able to have created for you, it just doesn’t do justice to the beautiful selection of products and in particular the framed canvases. Amy had thought she was going to order one thing… but as soon as she saw Lexie framed on canvas she was sold. I can’t wait to share her chosen artwork when it arrives!
