My gorgeous friend Tamarah from BippityBoppityBoutique was contacted and asked if she would like to participate in a new and exciting event run by the Moreton Bay Council especially for Dog Owners called – Pooches in the Park.
She came up with this super fun idea ‘Pupper Picasso’ where canvas was inserted into plastic bags smeared with peanut butter and the owner’s choice of paint colours. Then the idea was the dogs would lick the peanut butter off the bag creating an absolute ‘pawsterpiece’.
Whilst chatting I said, why don’t I come along and photograph all the gorgeous puppers! Any excuse to find a way to pat dogs, right??
The Pooches in the Park Fair!
Tamarah and her super supportive husband Tyson spent hours preparing all the canvases, paints, glitter, bags, handouts, and everything!! Setting up on the morning went quite smoothly and honestly it was not long before there were queues of doggos waiting for their opportunity to create their pawsterpiece!
BUT… man was it hot! It wasn’t long before our stall became a haven from the sun with lots of dogs crawling for the shade and parking themselves, lapping up the water from the bowls Tyson repeatedly filled and giving their owners a bit of respite too!
We noticed that some dogs who would normally love peanut butter weren’t feeling it and we figured it must have been from the heat or possibly the stresses of being around so many dogs and so much happening. Tamarah took it in her stride and began offering a ‘peanut butter’ free option allowing the dogs to stand, paw or even sit on the paint bags to create their pawsterpieces! Haha
I was out the back helping to hold canvases and offer photos to all the puppers and their pawents and guide them back to Tyson who would cut out the canvas and set them out to dry after a name and of course glitter was added!
I don’t think we had time to think for more than 5 minutes before another group of doggos would be lining up for the fun activity. I was lucky in that I could roam a little and would often find myself in the shade with dogs flopping at my feet displaying their bellies. I have a lot of practice rubbing bellies here at home and I’m guessing the dogs picked up on my expert skills. haha
Special Events and Demonstrations
Before the fair officially began, I couldn’t help but pop over and check out the SunCoast Agility Club. I had spotted some people I knew from back when I went to PADS. And guess who’s going to be joining SunCoast?? I’m excited to be going back into training with Lexie.
Stall Holders
There were so many fantastic stall holders at the fair but I really didn’t get a chance to visit a lot of them. However I did manage to say hello to the stalls closest to us and of course the Coffee Van where I in fact met another Zoe! The biggest darling ever and her boyfriend running the van. He helped to keep me awake during the day with delicious iced coffees!
Right next to us was the lovely Belinda from BAC Photography. She has her own studio in Northlakes.
Later in the day I also met Casey from Bella Maree Products and her special helpers Emily & Mum (sorry Emily’s mum, I didn’t catch your name <3) and Emily’s beautiful little girl.
I also met the lovely lady from Little Wolf Pet Boutiq who makes the cutest little clip on pupper shirt collars.
And of course, the ever so bubbly Jade from Biggies Raw Pantry. She is such a little treasure and helped me choose the perfect bag of goodies to hand out at my photo sessions. I had been looking for the perfect partner to add a little ‘extra’ to my family dog photo sessions and after meeting Jade, I just knew Biggies was it!
