I don't trust my dog off lead
Even the most well behaved dog needs to be on leash at times.
I can guarantee nearly all of the professional dog photography photos you see; the owner was right near by holding the lead. Leads are really quite easy to remove during the editing stage, however collars and harnesses are not as easy.
If you would like your dog to look bare chested, I highly recommend removing harnesses and using a thin collar. If your dog is used to using a slip lead that can be helpful on the day too.
My dog won't sit still
Dog's never sit still! Tongues hanging out, ears flapping, head this way and that and those tails are always wagging. Yup, that's a dog for ya, but it can be frustrating when you're trying to take a cute pic at home or in the park and your dog is looking every which way but at you!
Ta da... Your local dog photographer to the rescue! The best part about hiring a photographer is that you don't have to worry about all of that. It is MY job to grab your dogs attention and thank goodness I have an array of noise makers to help me do so! haha
And those wiggly butts you say? Well that's where professional camera gear comes in. All the fancy buttons and lenses allow me to capture your dog in a split of a second, so they can twitch, run and move about without having to sit still like a statue to grab the perfect shot.
The biggest battle when taking a dog out and about is they get bored quickly so it's important to try and capture a few shots and then give them a break before capturing the next few. They tend to be a little more patient if they get to sniff and be free in-between.
My dog isn't friendly with other dogs
No worries! Mine isn't fond of dog's either. Just let me know when we have a chat and we can discuss different locations and different times of the day that will likely have less dogs around if any.
My dog is nervous around new people and places
Please do let me know if your dog is nervous around new people and places. We may need to arrange a longer session time where we just hang out for a while before I even pull the camera out.
A dog's feelings come across in photos and we want to try and capture your dog feeling calm and happy. We want to avoid sad eyes, ears back, wrinkled foreheads and tails between the legs as much as possible.
If it all seems too much for your dog on the day, we will simply book another time and come up with a new plan. We may need to meet again for a bit of a play or if it is the new location worrying your dog it may be worthwhile visiting a few times to help them get used to the new surroundings and we can try again.

I'd like some photos with my dog, but I'm a little self conscious
If you're like me, you're used to taking selfies positioning your head this way or that to try and capture the best angle. Throw your dog into the mix and you can easily end up taking 50 snaps before you finally get frustrated and pick one just for the sake of being done!
It can be difficult to trust someone else to take your photo because most of the photos others have taken you just don't like! Especially those photos you were unaware were being taken and they just appear on social media with you tagged in them! Geez Louise, you could have warned me first!
Though, wouldn't you like to have some nice photos of you and your special friend? A photo you can treasure where you're not picking yourself to pieces?
The best way to achieve this is to trust a photographer who understands and wants to make you look beautiful. Whether that is through helping you reposition yourself or choosing an angle that is more flattering to capture the photo. If you let me know you're feeling a little self conscious and if you have a particular area of concern it helps for me to be aware of that too.
We might be able to discuss clothing options, ways to wear your hair and discuss the types of photos you feel more comfortable with; for example, legs and arms only, waist up only or even no profile shots.
Just let me know so I can help.
Do you photograph other animals too?
I LOVE dogs but I do love all animals. I don't currently have a lot of experience photographing other animals but I am definitely open to the opportunity. I happen to have a crazy Quaker Parrot who is over 17 years old. I love taking photos of him and capturing the fine details of his feathers.
If you have parrots, I would really love to photograph them too.
Do you photograph people and families?
Although my main focus has been promoting the furry family members in your life, I do also feel it is important to capture pets with their families too! It does take a little more planning with outfit and location ideas and we can work together to create something memorable if you would like the whole family included.
