I was surprised, I didn’t know about this hidden spot tucked away on the North Pine River in Griffin. The Rocks Cafe is directly across from the Dohles Rocks Boat Ramp overlooking the river and is the perfect place to grab a drink before wandering along the esplanade with your dog.
If you’re meeting up with friends or want to sit back and relax with your dog, there is a lovely seating area to the side with large tree carved tables under an enormous old tree. I can’t wait to see it in full flower.
Owned by local horse lover and bubbly Lardan, you’ll be greeted with a huge smile and likely find yourself chatting whilst waiting for your order. The friendly atmosphere and ‘meeting point’ she has created in the area, has meant ‘once locals’ still return to enjoy catching up and walking their dogs in the area.
Perfectly positioned for boaties heading out onto the water. Grab a nice hot drink and pick up your bait before heading out for an early morning fish.
If you haven’t been to the area before, you may also wish to visit Osprey House which is a bird sanctuary where Osprey breed and nest. There is a wonderful walkway along the waters edge you can enjoy, but sadly and understandably, no dogs are allowed through this area.

Dog Friendly Features – Cafés in North Brisbane
To the side of this friendly dog café, there are three large tables surrounded by a sweet garden to offer privacy from the road. Each table has some hooks on the side to tie your dog’s lead so you can comfortably sit and enjoy your order hands-free. Don’t forget to order your dog a puppucinno too! teehee
There are multiple water bowls you can fill and plenty of space for multiple dogs to fit in the area trouble free.
I loved when I spoke to Lardan about my idea for a photo shoot that she knew exactly which dogs she wanted to invite and their names! haha Her love for the dogs that visit and of course their owners just showed me how much this community meant to her.
It is with special thanks to the adorable old boy Benji, Fun and handsome Beanie, Sweet Ruby & Jess and little munchkin Mischy for being the superstar models for this photoshoot. Their owners were pretty fab too, offering me many laughs. 😉

Food & Drinks
I love the way the café is set up like a little shack, ordering from the front and then you can collect your order from the side window. It makes it so easy to order when you have dogs.
Even though the café is like a cute little shack, they do offer a selection of yummies. Cheese and ham toasties, Pies, Sausage Rolls and more. The perfect snack to grab on your way out on the boat too!
AND the coffee… It is delicious and always served with a friendly smile. They sell my favourite Byron Bay cookies too. The perfect companion to good coffee.

Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a nice little hideaway from all the hustle and bustle that isn’t too far away it really is the perfect location.
It’s the perfect spot to bring your dog, grab a hot drink and walk along the waters edge. It is an AMAZING spot for a sunrise walk if you’re an early bird and considering they’re open from 5:30am every day you’ll be able to stop in for drink and a yarn too.
